BEAUTIFUL images of poppies have been painted on a boarded-up derelict industrial site to spruce up the area.
Harwich artist Andy Howell has started to transform the Tesco-owned site on the border of Manningtree and Lawford by painting vivid works of art on the disused building.
The project, arranged by Manningtree councillor Kerry King, will brighten up the rundown spot until the supermarket giant goes ahead with plans to build its new store on the land.
Kerry said: “I decided to make poppies the general theme to coincide with the commemoration of the First World War."
There are about 20 boards on the building, four of which have so far been painted.
Anyone who can help sponsor the project is asked to call Kerry on 07876 500760.
