A LEUKAEMIA sufferer has rounded up a team of cops to take part in a charity bike ride.
PCSO Ray Aylott, ofThorpe le Soken is leading a 13 member group of friends, family and colleagues to raise money for Leukaemia Care by competing in the Tour de Tendring on May 11.
Mr Aylott works with Harwich police and was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia in 2009 and underwent a six month course of chemotherapy.
Since then he has begun fundraising for a cause which helps others with a similar condition.
“Although the six months were not the best of my life I count myself lucky because I suffered minimal side effects,” he said.
“Since then I have been in remission but as the chronic part of the title suggest there is no cure for this and I know it will come back for another bite at some stage.
