RESIDENTS have banded together to fight against vandalism blighting a village play park.
Villagers met to discuss the trouble-hit Welfare Park in Parkeston, which has been plagued with litter, fly-tipping and vandalism since its £100,000 make-over in 2012.
The emergency public meeting was called by Ramsey and Parkeston Parish Council to discuss the future of the park after the committee running it disbanded.
More than 20 residents attended and voted to form a new group to run the facility on a day to day basis with the parish council taking over responsibility for finances, insurance and legal matters.
It was also agreed that the council will look into covering the park with CCTV.
