This week’s snowfall left some residents bemoaning the authorities for not treating the roads in their area.
Earlier this winter, homeowners protested a decision by Essex County Council (ECC) not to install or repair any roadside salt bins while a review took place.
ECC continue to re-fill existing bins, but last month Halstead Town Council voted to allow the mayor and clerk to buy additional supplies for the town.
Town council clerk Mike Murkin said: “We haven’t had to order any more yet, since the snow has generally remained quite deep and the salt is only useful in treating ice.
