Families learned about an ancient woodland while taking part in a fundraising walk.
More than 50 people turned out on Sunday to support the walk in aid of Cancer Research, organised by Halstead resident Karen Howlett.
Simon Leatherdale of the Forestry Commission guided the walkers through hidden parts of Broaks Wood, near Gosfield, explaining the management and history of the woodland.
In total, £300 was raised.
Mrs Howlett said: "It was very muddy but seeing the woods in all its glory in the sunshine was wonderful.
“I am so pleased with the level of support yet again and would like to thank the people of Halstead and the surrounding area.”
