Young people have been urged to apply for a share of £1.35m to help improve facilities in their area.

They can apply for the Youth Opportunity Fund (YOF) or the Youth Capital Fund (YCF) through Essex County Council’s Integrated Youth Services.

The YOF could be used for setting up a cafe or planning a trip, while the YCF could help refurbish a building, such as a teen shelter.

Young people aged 13 to 19, or up to 25 for those with a learning disability, are eligible.

The deadline for applications for the first round of funding is March 22.
