A WEEKEND closure of part of the A12 has been put back a week, Highways England has announced.
The trunk road at Kelvedon was due to be closed this weekend so Ewell Bridge can be repaired after being struck by a vehicle.
The work was scheduled to take place over three consecutive weekends.
However, it has now been confirmed the work will take place next weekend, February 4 and 5.
London-bound drivers will be taken on a 22-mile detour, taking in the A120 to Braintree, the A131, through Great Notley, and on the A130, around Chelmsford, before rejoining the A12.
On weekdays, lanes around the work will be narrowed and a 50mph limit will be in place.
The rest of the work will take place on other weekends later this year with dates to be announced in due course.
