A MAN has died and another is in a life-threatening condition following a road traffic collision involving four motorbikes.

Emergency services were called to Wethersfield Road in Sible Hedingham shortly after 2pm on Sunday June 5.

One of the riders, who is believed to be 22 and from Newcastle, sadly died at the scene.

Another motorcyclist, a 51-year-old man from Laindon, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Addenbrookes hospital for treatment.

The East of England Ambulance Service said he was critically injured and was in "a life-threatening condition". 

A 62-year-old man from Basildon was taken to Colchester hospital for treatment for back and pelvis pain, but has since been discharged. 

Two ambulance crews, a rapid response vehicle, ambulance officer and Herts Air Ambulance attended to the report of three patients.

The road was closed until 8.30pm whilst emergency services dealt with the incident and officers conducted their investigations.
