Generous youngsters have donated 35 shoeboxes to help disadvantaged children.

St Andrew’s Primary School, in Mathews Close, took part in Samaritan Purse’s Operation Christmas Child appeal.

People donate shoeboxes filled with gifts such as toys, pens, gloves, hair accessories and colouring books, which are then distributed through the charity to children in third world countries.

The shoeboxes were taken to the charity’s warehouse on Wednesday to be distributed.

Headteacher Bridgette Gough said: “We have supported the appeal for the last two years.

“They come in to talk to the children at an assembly and then we take it from there.

“I am sure the children love getting involved.”
