Your views are being sought on plans for more than 100 houses on an industrial site in Halstead.

Developer Bellway Homes and agent Strutt and Parker will be asking local residents and businesses their thoughts on plans for a housing development on Central Park, off Colchester Road.

A planning application could then be submitted as soon as October.

Central Piling, which is operating from the site, is moving to the nearby Bluebridge Industrial Estate.

The exhibition into the proposed development for Central Park will take place on October 1 between 4pm and 8pm at Queen's Hall, Broom Hill, Halstead.

A notice about the consultation reads: "Our proposals, which will be displayed at the event, indicate approximately 104 new homes, ranging between one and four bedroom properties, improvements to the river walk alongside the River Colne, and an off-site equipped play area.

"This event will provide an opportunity for residents to find out more detailed information of the proposals in advance of planning application being submitted to Braintree Council in October.

"Representatives from the project team will be on hand throughout to provide further information collect your views and answer any questions you may have.”

The information displayed at the event will also be made available following an exhibition by contacting the project team.

The site has been earmarked for development for a number of years and was put forward as part of Braintree Council’s Call for Sites.

In 2009, a planning application to build 69 houses and business units on the site was refused, even after an appeal, due to a desire to keep the site for employment, not housing.

A planning application for 300 houses in land south of Oak Road, at the other end of the town, was granted last week.
