Parents and children loved taking part in a book party in Halstead.

The event, organised by the Halstead branch of the NCT, was well attended, with 30 people bringing their children to Halstead Baptist Church last Monday.

It raised more than £100 from entrance fees, raffle tickets and book bingo for the charity’s branch, which supports parents.

The children enjoyed rhyme time, Gruffalo sensory games, bookmark making, finger painting and many took part in the fancy dress competition.

The winner of the fancy dress competition was 16-month-old Elliot Pearson, of Halstead, who was dressed as the Hungry Caterpillar.

Suzie Munson, branch chair said: “I would like to thank all the families who supported our book party, a great time was had by all and we raised valuable funds to plug back into our regular playgroup.

“The volunteers who orchestrated the event have been like a breath of fresh air to the branch.”
