Improvements to Halstead’s new skate park are one step closer.
Recently, a provisional grant of £25,000 from Essex County Council to improve the skate park, in Ramsey Road, Halstead, had been withdrawn because the land is owned by Braintree Council and not Halstead Town Council.
However, the district council has agreed to sell the land for just £1.
At the town council’s meeting on Monday, councillors agreed to have solicitors look at the contract before signing it off.
Councillor Andrew Munday, one of the representatives of the youth council along with Eileen Penn and Sandra Dingle, said: “I am really pleased this is now progressing.
“I believe it will take about three months for all the legal bits to be done and dusted.
“After that the youth council can start applying for grants.
“I am absolutely thrilled.”
