A family has been left shocked and angry after their catalytic converter was stolen from one of their cars.

Tracey and Jason Cummings moved from London to White Horse Avenue, Halstead, in 2008.

They left their cars - a rare Subaru RB320 and a Seat Alhambra people carrier - outside their house on Saturday evening.

However, on Sunday morning they received a text from a neighbour telling them they had seen a car similar to an Audi A6 lurking outside their drive at about 2am on Sunday.

“He thought it was a bit odd so we went out to check,” Mrs Cummings, 40, said.

“The wheel centre caps of the Subaru had been tampered with.”

However, worse news was yet to come.

“When I was driving my children to Holy Trinity, the car was making an awful noise.

“I went into J Lovric at Mounthill Garage, in Halstead, and they showed me that the catalytic converter had been stolen."
