After four years of dogged determination, a new bus route is finally due to start.

Sible Hedingham Parish Council has announced the new service from Great Yeldham to Sudbury will start operating on Tuesday.

According to the records, the last time there was a daily service from Sible Hedingham to Sudbury was by horse drawn stagecoach in 1753.

To launch the new service, a jester will ride on the 9am bus on Tuesday and then entertain the Sudbury shoppers and distribute timetables before returning on the bus at 10.30am.

The bus, operated by De Vere Travel, will be a numbered 333 and will travel between Great Yeldham and Sudbury three times daily, Monday to Friday.

Residents in Toppesfield and Highstreet Green will also benefit as they will be able to use the service.

The service will be managed by Sible Hedingham Parish Council rather than Essex County Council and the parish council are very proud to be trailblazers in this respect.

Timetables are being delivered with the respective parish magazines in the parishes and the feedback has been very positive.

The bus is brand new, wheelchair friendly and bus passes may be used.

This service is tailored to allow people to get to work in Sudbury, or catch an early train.

The West Suffolk College and the hospital are now accessible with ongoing buses from Sudbury.

It will even be possible to have a nice day out at one of the many destinations available from Sudbury bus station.
