Villagers will soon be able to enjoy a piece of art that contains some of their own history.

Gosfield Parish Council is looking to make a mosaic for display on one of the walls of the new shop in the village.

Chairman Max Ford said: “The idea comes from when we used to have the Gosfield Arts Festival and there was some money left over from that when it stopped a few years ago.

“It was earmarked for an artistic project in the village.

“We asked people for ideas of what they might want and it was decided that we would like to have some form of public art.

“We settled on a mosaic but the idea was put on the back burner because we couldn’t think of where to put it.

“We had thought of building a wall, but as someone said, did we really want another lump of concrete in the village?”

When the Gosfield Village Shop opened for business at the end of January, not only did it provide an opportunity for locals to shop, but also to display the mosaic.
