Youngsters in Halstead could soon have more to do after a youth club showed interest in the town.

The Essex Boys and Girls Club, a charity started in 1939, supports 140 voluntary youth groups, clubs and sports groups, providing activities for more than 15,000 teens aged between 11 and 19.

Mum-of-four Lucy Hammond, of White Horse Avenue, said a youth centre should be set up in the town to stop children ruining their lives through drinking.

Halstead youngsters agreed a centre would be a good addition to the town and would be well used.

There is now hope they could have their wishes, with the Essex Boys and Girls Club showing an interest in working in partnership with local volunteers and organisations to develop youth facilities in the town.
