Two elderly people were trapped when their car left the road and collided with a wall.
Two fire engines from Halstead attended the incident at 4pm today on Sudbury Road, in Halstead.
The casualties were freed by 6.30pm and both taken to Colchester General Hospital with minor injuries that were not thought to be life threatening.
A police spokeman at the scene said it was currently unclear how the collision occurred but that they were not looking for any other cars in relation to the incident.
There were long tailbacks in both directions but these have since cleared.
