A 21-year-old musician from Gosfield is fighting for his life in a coma after he was involved in a head-on crash in the village.
Former Hedingham Sixth Form pupil Corran Powell, known as Coz, was driving a blue Volkswagen Polo, when it was in collision with a Ford Fiesta in Braintree Road at 4.52pm on Sunday.
Coz, who lives in Greenfields with his dad Antony, mum Jennifer, and siblings, was flown to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge with life-threatening injuries.
He remains in the hospital in a medically-induced coma.
The crash claimed the lives of Coz’s friend James Simmons, 18, of Hillside Gardens, Braintree, who was travelling in the back seat of the Polo and David Bradley, 30, of Beckers Green Road, Braintree, who was the driver of the Fiesta.
The front seat passenger of the Polo, known locally as Coz’s girlfriend Emillie Penton, 16, from Braintree, and the front seat passenger of the Fiesta, a woman in her 20s from Suffolk, were taken to Broomfield Hospital, in Chelmsford, with serious injuries.
