Doctors’ surgeries and the local school would not be able to cope with the proposed development in Great Yeldham.

In October, Edward Gittins and Associates Planning and Development Consultants, on behalf of The Granville Group, submitted a planning application to Braintree Council to build 60 houses on the Hunnable Industrial Estate in the village.

A decision is not due until January, but the proposals have already attracted a lot of reaction from local residents, with 15 objection comments and two support comments.

Consultations with NHS England and Essex County Council have raised further issues.

Mr Gittens said: "The development will be legally required to make significant financial contributions to a range of community facilities, including healthcare and education services, to help meet the existing and future needs of the locality."
