A pub chain is still very interested in coming to Halstead.
JD Wetherspoon, which runs more than 800 pubs across the UK, first showed an interest in the town in 2012, when it reportedly offered to buy the town’s postal depot in High Street.
This has never been confirmed by Royal Mail or Wetherspoon, and the plans have not progressed since.
In September this year, the chain said that it was still interested in coming to Halstead, but was not looking into any sites.
However, earlier this week a spokesman for the firm said: “Wetherspoon is keen to be in the town and is looking at other possible sites in Halstead.”
They would not confirm the sites they were looking into, or if they were still interested in the former depot.
