An exact replica of the Magna Carta will soon be viewable in Castle Hedingham.
Hedingham Castle’s baron, Robert de Vere, 3rd Earl of Oxford, was one of the 24 rebel barons who secured the charter from King John in 1215, which limited the king’s power and protected their rights.
Thanks to a £12,500 grant from the Magna Carta Trust, the village will have an exact copy of the charter printed on parchment, as well as the 20 other members of the Magna Carta Barons Association.
