A man lost part of his finger after posting leaflets through a letterbox in a suspected dog attack.
Craig Smith, 32, was delivering leaflets for his girlfriend along White Horse Avenue.
The factory worker at Maycast-Nokes, in Halstead, explained: “I pushed the leaflet through the letterbox and felt something grab it on the other side.
“When I pulled my hand back, the top part of my middle finger was missing.
“I heard claws scrabbling on the back of the door and I can only think that the dog was asleep under the letterbox and I woke it up as I didn’t hear it coming.”
Mr Smith, of Dooley Road, in Halstead, had about an inch of his finger missing.
