A field might form an important part of the country’s centenary celebrations.
Braintree Council has applied for four fields, including the open space off Ramsey Road, Halstead, to be designated as a centenary field to honour the memory of the millions of people who lost their lives in the First World War.
The three other parks are Marshalls Park in Braintree, Witham Memorial Gardens and Witham Town Park.
It is hoped that the scheme will safeguard the fields from future developments as they will be protected as dedicated outdoor recreation sites and means the park will get a free plaque
