Volunteers are needed to help monitor wildlife on the River Colne.
They will survey short sections of the river and the information will help the Essex Wildlife Trust take action if there is a decline in particular species or the habitat.
Water voles were also moved to the river in 2009 and volunteers will help monitor their population and the number of invasive mink.
There is currently only one volunteer in the Halstead area and it is not known if the voles have populated the section of river around there.
Helpers are needed for the stretch between Halstead and Colchester.
