A memorial including all the names of fallen heroes who died during the First World War has been unveiled to mark the centenary of the war’s outbreak.
Work has finally been completed on Earl Colne’s memorial at St Andrew’s Church after the parish council identified 16 new names to add to the existing 38.
Parish council vice-chairman Ian Sparks, who led the research and the renovation, said: “I am very happy to see it finished after so long.
“Some of the men haven’t had any recognition for about 100 years.
“I have been speaking to one lady whose relative is now on the memorial and she thinks it is marvellous as people now know what he did.
“She thought he would always be forgotten.”
