ESSEX truckers rumbled in to London to join protests over rising fuel costs.

Lorry drivers from across the county joined hundreds of hauliers in the capital to call for a freeze on fuel duty.

Some Essex hauliers headed to Westminster to press for an essential-user fuel tax rebate.

Kevin Read, of Colchester firm B & E Hamblion, warned: "If we cannot get a rebate, our costs will be passed on to customers. There will not be an industry unless we can."

Well done guys! About time someone did something about the stupid amount of duty on fuel. Now for the car drivers to arrange a protest!

Fuel wasted trundling down to London and holding up other motorists. Can't see the point myself

Frankly, after hearing some of their arguments for more pay last month (''because we need to concentrate more when driving...'' for example, from an interview on 5Live) I have less sympathy for the silly truckers.

If only there was a viable alternative to the current Government....

We are always being told how cheap diesel is on the Continent and that their truckers have an unfair advantage.

Go to France and find out the drawbacks: High Insurance
High road tolls
Forcedonto motorways on many routes
Banned from roads at weekends
Police always on your back
On spot fines
Etc,etc
