Another sighting has been made of the elusive so-called beast of Essex.

Alison Wilcox, of Ambrose Avenue in Colchester, said she was on her way back from Hadleigh with her husband when she spotted the panther-like animal standing in a field between Lawford and Colchester in the middle of the day.

"It was definitely not a horse - it was black animal, and I am certain it was this beast everyone keeps talking about.

"It was just standing there, and then I saw in the paper that someone else had heard it growling," added Mrs Wilcox.

The creature has also recently been sighted in Harwich, Colne Engaine and Colchester.

I always laughed at these so called 'sightings' ,thought it was a figment of someones imagination.
That was until I was a passenger in a car on the road from clacton to Colchester and I spotted a big .black cat in the middle of a field. There was no doubt what I saw ,in fact I made the driver turn round and go back for another look.By then ,whatever it was had vanished.
Now I don't believe in ghosts ,spooks or anything like that ,but I saw what I saw and now am convinced there is something there.
Of course ,my family think I am mad so am keeping quiet.
Makes you wonder how many people have seen this animal and don't say anything for the same reason.
Off you go ...have a good laugh ,but I did see it.

I'm sure there's more than one. I haven't seen it but I do believe that it is true. Thanks for sharing your story, I don't think you're crazy!!

I haven't seen it! It may be real but I also know people who years ago had a laugh making large paw prints in wet concrete and faking pics!!! It wouldn't be a beast anyway more likely a panther!!

on Tuesday morning we found our pet cat in the middle of the garden with her head ripped off not cut or just a broken neck but actually hanging off by a couple of sinews would a fox do that to a fully grown healthy cat ? but then after such a savage attack would it just be left in the garden wouldnt it eat it, or is it all just coincidence!

We've just been over to hilly fields for a walk this afternoon, and seen a large black animal like a puma sitting in a clump of trees,it was watching a rabbit running ahead of us, about 30 feet away. Just as we spotted it, it turned it's head and looked at us, at which point we swiftly retreated. It was definately a cat, but as big as a labrador.

Both me & my partner saw this too, last summer we were driving home from Clacton and it was in a field. It was definitely a large black cat with a long tail...much too big for a domestic cat. We too turned round and went back but it had gone... We both were like "Oh my god did you see that!!!"
