A man stepped in to break up a fight - by headbutting his mum's neighbour.
Christopher Bird, 21, said a fight broke out after his brother's car caught fire last October. He tried to get the brawlers to stop, Colchester magistrates heard.
Victim Simon Leggett suffered a cut lip and scar on his head.
Bird, of Honeysuckle Way, Colchester, admitted assault. He was fined £100 and ordered to pay £100 compensation, with £90 costs.
