A PICTURE taken by a Stanway photographer has beaten off 4,000 entries to reach the final of an international competition.

Brandon Griffiths’ photo of a snowboarder in mid-flight is now up against 19 other images to claim the overall title.

The picture was captured at sunset by Brandon, 19, during a High Cascade Snowboard Camp teaching both sport and photography on Mount Hood in Portland, Oregon in the USA.

People now have until September 16 to vote for their favourite, with the winning photographer taking home kit and software worth more than £2,000 plus subscriptions to trade magazines.

Brandon, of Sandmartin Crescent, said: “It was great just to be out there learning from professionals, and it was incredible being right above the clouds.

“I’m excited about the competition and can’t wait to find out if I have won, but there are some other really good photos there so I hope people vote for me.”

Brandon, who is currently studying photography at Hertfordshire University, liked the photograph so much he has used it on his business cards.

The competition is being run by creative software developer Serif.
