Race walker Dominic King cheered on by Olympic crowds

COLCHESTER'S race walker Dominic King has completed his Olympic race in London.
Dad Steve described his 29-year-old son as a “true Olympian” after he came last – in 51st place - in Saturday’s 50km race.
It took Dominic four hours, 15 minutes and five seconds, to complete the gruelling race which saw eight others disqualified and four pull out.
Thousands lines the streets to watch the event which began at 9am and saw competitors set off down The Mall on the first of 25 two-kilometre laps past Buckingham Palace, down towards Constitution Hill, and back again.

Well done for his pluck. The most insulting thing was the commentator describing him as coming from the Colchester Harriers club in SUFFOLK.

I agree Reg, that was cringeworthy. Well done Dominic though who didn't actually finisg last because of the disqualifications. I've always viewed it as a peculiar sport though because of the way they have to walk to gain optimum speed. Always reminds me of Dick Emery, "oh you are awful."....

i'm sure some more of the competitors were jogging.i tried to video the event but couldn't because you could only watch on interactive, shame because i would have liked to see them "walking" in super slow motion.
