A FLOOD alert for the north Essex coast has been issued for this afternoon.
The Environment Agency made the alert as forecast force four southerly winds will produce a surge in the predicted tide height.
High water due at 1.15pm will be 0.3 metres higher than expected , at 2.7 metres.
The alert covers the Coast from Clacton to St Peters Flat, including the Rivers Colne and Blackwater estuaries
A flood warning, a higher level warning, has not been issued but residents in low-lying coastal areas are urged to be prepared should waters rise.
