Man suffers shock after drilling through Colchester mains supply

A BUILDER has been rushed to hospital after drilling through a mains power cable.

The man was working at a site on Hythe Hill when he was injured at about 10.40am this morning.

Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “We believe the man received the electric shock when he drilled through an electric main and, following treatment at the scene, he was taken to Colchester General Hospital for further assessments.”

A mate of mine did something similar, while doing DIY. I think the only consequence was a loss of power to the house though.

well the bill from the utilities if he didn't follow procedures will be a much greater shock.
