Soldiers set to return to Afghanistan

SOLDIERS from across Essex are set to return to serve on the front line in Afghanistan.

The Government has confirmed soldiers from 1st Battalion the Royal Anglian Regiment, which recruits in Colchester, will be heading back to Helmand later this year.

The 3rd Battalion, which is made up of territorial troops, will also be heading back to the country.

The majority of the troops from the regiment, nicknamed the Vikings, are expected to serve on the tour for up to six months.
