Ambulance crews beat the snow

AMBULANCE response times during the weekend were the best in the history of the East of England Ambulance Service Trust during bad weather.

CEO Hayden Newton, who worked around the clock with colleagues to manage the 20 per cent rise in calls, said: “I am delighted that we are seeing the best performance for conditions of this kind since the trust was founded six years ago.

“Exceptionally hard work means we have been able to get the right treatment to patients who really needed us.”

Well done the ambulance crews. Some people seem to think the emergency service people are just doing their job, they don't need praise, and they can be slagged off when something goes wrong. Look at the thread following the gritters story, for example.
Most of us would not like to be out all night, or even all day, in the freezing cold on dangerous roads. So let's give praise to all the emergency services, and the regular ones too, like the bin men, who do a magnificent job in these difficult conditions.
