A FATHER is furious police visited his family home at nearly midnight to question his son over an apple-throwing incident.

Charlie Lindoe, 14, was questioned by two officers at 11.20pm on Saturday after a complaint was made he had thrown an apple and bruised the arm of a boy the previous Monday.

Dad Clive said his son, who had never been in trouble with the police before, had been terrified by the experience.

Mr Lindoe, of The Causeway, Great Horkesley, who has another son, aged 11, said: “The officers were absolute bullies and scared the life out of my children.

“They forced him into signing a piece of paper promising not to do it again.

“They were shouting and scaring my children.”

He added: “It’s just kids growing up and messing about, but the other child’s parents felt they needed to contact the police “They came round here being brutish and bullying and scared my children very late on a Saturday night – I had to get them out of bed.

“I was just sitting down with a glass of wine to watch Michael McIntyre on television when they came knocking on the door.

“One of my sons suffers from depression and it has really bothered him.

“He has taken a knock-back and we can’t get him back to school.

“They have terrified my family.”

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We have received a complaint from Mr Lindoe, which will be investigated.

“An appointment has been made to speak to Mr Lindoe to take details of his complaint on Thursday.

“While a complaint is being investigated, it would be inappropriate to comment any further.”
