A COLCHESTER man has appeared in court charged with shooting dead a man in London.
Andrew Cross, whose last known address was Abbey Field, Colchester, is accused of murdering Larry Malone in West Norwood last September.
The 27-year-old appeared at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, where he was remanded in custody ahead of an appearance on Thursday.
Mr Malone, 24, from Brixton, had been at a flat in Harpenden Road with friends in the early hours of Thursday, September 3.
At about 12.40am, the friends were in a front room when someone fired shots through the window before running off.
Police were called, but Mr Malone was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem examination showed he died from a single gunshot wound to the head.
At the time, officers said they were keeping an open mind as to the motive and appealed for the public’s help in catching his killer.
Essex Police arrested Cross in Colchester on November 23 on suspicion of murdering Mr Malone.
He was questioned at the town’s police station before being released on police bail to return to a south London police station.
Cross, whose address has been given by the Metropolitan Police as both Lambeth and Colchester, was charged on Tuesday with murder and remanded in custody before his court appearance on Wednesday.
A 25-year-old man, arrested on October 27 in connection with the murder, remains on bail pending further inquiries.
