AN early spring clean helped launch a three month project aimed at making a Colchester community safer.
A graffiti hotspot was cleaned up and children picked up litter to mark the start of the Safer Colchester Project in New Town.
The pilot project, which sees local police, councils and other public authorities blitz an area for three months, has already been hailed a success in Monkwick and Tiptree.
The launch follows a “Day of Action” last month, where five arrests were carried out following dawn raids and checks at Colchester Town Police Station.
Today, the Essex Probation Community Payback scheme and Essex Police officers cleaned and repainted an area of land opposite the Alms Houses, Military Road.
