A forecast of wintry weather has proved to be something of a damp squib.
North Essex has spent the week braced for plummeting temperatures and snow, but only a few flakes fell yesterday.
Gazette weatherman Terry Mayes has predicted that temperatures will get warmer from today.
A spokesman for Essex County Council's highways department said that the county's fleet of 65 gritting lorries had been out on the roads last night.
