A MAN is set to kayak from pier to pier in a bid to raise vital funds for a charity which supports veterans and soldiers.

Tyler St George, 22, from Clacton, will paddle from Clacton to Walton before hiking back to raise money for Help for Heroes.

He sets off on December 30 and the challenge could take him up to three days before his return to Clacton.

He said: “I want to carry out tasks that will help our brave men and women in the military, they deserve the care and support that they receive.

“I started my 14-week basic training in the Army before unfortunately being medically discharged, and I am determined to do my bit and help those who are worse off.”

Tyler suffers from autism and ADHD and is urging people with similar conditions to try different experiences.

He said: “People with disabilities can do anything if they put their minds to it.

“I have been inspired by stories about soldiers, and many now have physical disabilities.”

“But if you really want to do something in life, then there is no reason you can’t do it.”

“With a condition like mine, it may mean that you must work harder than other people.

“My own experience with the Army showed me that if you can get through tough times, then you will have more to give in life.”
