A TEENAGER has been flown to hospital after being involved in a serious car crash.

A burgundy Ford Fiesta and a white Ford Fiesta Zetec collided in Langham Road, Boxted, just before 7.15am on Saturday.

The burgundy vehicle ended up in a ditch on the side of the road.

A man, 18, who was driving the car had to be cut free from a car by fire crews.

He was flown in an air ambulance to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

His condition was intially described as life threatening but Essex Police have now confirmed it is not the case and described his injuries as "serious."

It is believed he is suffering from a broken pelvis.

The East of England Ambulance Service Trust also sent two ambulance crews, an ambulance officers and the hazardous area response team to the scene.

A second patient - a man who was driving the other car- suffered chest injuries.

He was taken to Colchester General Hospital. His condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

The road is closed while police carry out an investigation.
