TV’S Mr Grumpy helps bring the curtain down on Frinton Summer Theatre’s season on Sunday.

Richard Wilson – theatre patron and One Foot In The Grave’s Victor Meldrew – will compere a special gala night at the McGrigor Hall.

The evening stars comedian Tanya Lee Davis who has performed on the John Bishop Show and Live At The Apollo, and West End performer Taryn Sudding, who will be singing jazz and show tunes, with more acts still to be announced.

The gala night is raising money for the Friends of Frinton Theatre, the McGrigor Hall and the Lynda Bellingham FST Debutante Fund.

The fund commemorates the life and work of the late Lynda Bellingham, who started her acting career at Frinton Summer Theatre.

Over the past three years the summer theatre has given first jobs to at least nine actors and the fund will guarantee work to young professionals just starting their career.

Co-artistic director Edward Max said: “It is a great way to round off the summer.

“All the money raised will go to local charities and organisations – not only safeguarding the future of the Frinton Summer Theatre season, but also supporting young people as they get a start in their careers, and helping the hall stay open all year round as an important community amenity for the local area.”

The gala night kicks off with canapes and Prosecco at 7.30pm, ahead of the show at 8pm.

Tickets are £30 from the box office on 01255 676656 or at frintonsummertheatre.org.
