A GAS leak which forced staff out of two town centre businesses has been repaired.
Workers at the Wimpy burger restaurant and Abbotts Countrywide estate agents in High Street, Colchester, were told by National Grid to leave the premises after the leak was detected on Tuesday evening.
Engineers remained at the site on Wednesday and finally had it fixed by 9pm.
A National Grid spokesman said: “The leak was coming from a metal gas main which has now been repaired.”
He added engineers were due to return to the site yesterday to ensure the gas mains are working properly.
