A SHOPPER was seriously injured when he was hit by a vehicle in a supermarket car park.
Police are appealing for witnesses after an 86-year-old was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Officers were called with reports of a collision involving a man and a white Citroen Berlingo in the Tesco car park at The Grove Shopping Centre, Witham, sometime between 11.10am and 11.30am on Wednesday, January 11.
"The pedestrian, from Chelmsford, was taken to hospital and remains in Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, in a serious condition."
The driver is helping police with their enquiries.
Any witnesses are asked to contact PC Andrew Egerton at Stanway Roads Policing Unit on 101.
