A HAUL of class A drug wraps worth thousands of pounds were seized by police in a Clacton raid.

Specialist drug raid officers stormed the property in Boxted Avenue last week.

They smashed their way through the front door and searched the house – finding three men and a huge haul of drugs and cash.

All three of the suspects, including two locals and one man from Liverpool, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of intent to supply class A drugs.

Plastic bags filled with heroin wraps with a street value topping £4,000 were confiscated, along with large wads of cash.

The raid was carried out last Wednesday by officers from Operation Raptor – a team put together to deal with gangs moving into the area from other parts of the country to sell drugs.

Det Sgt Andy Stott said: “We secured a warrant based on information gathered and were able to execute it successfully.

“It was a significant find and our intel is that the drugs are worth more than £4,000.

“We suspect this may follow the trend that we have seen recently of gangs coming in from other areas to deal drugs here.

“It is important to get this off the streets before it ends up in the hands of Clacton residents.

“We have seen these drug dealers coming in to prey on vulnerable targets and drug users.

“But this affects the wider public and leaves an impact on the community.

“It is important that we target the source and clamp down on dealers, and this was a good result.”

Tendring Community Policing Team also carried out two raids on suspected cannabis farms last week.

Officers executed a warrant at a property in Highbirch Road, Weeley Heath, at about 11am last Wednesday.

They found some cannabis plants outside, while others were being grown indoors under a sophisticated set-up of wires, heat lamps and extraction fans.

The team found evidence that the set-up had been larger and believe some of the drugs and equipment had been moved recently.

Forensic investigators attended to look for evidence.

PC Dan Heard said: “This is the sort of set-up we have seen quite a lot of before.

“The more we can pick up and remove the better for everyone and the safer the community will be.”

A second raid was carried out in The Street, Little Clacton, on Thursday morning.

A small number of cannabis plants were discovered and seized. One man was arrested at the scene and given a caution.

PC Heard added: “In both cases we were acting on intelligence from the local community.

“One of our top priorities is to get drugs off the streets and we want residents to know if they give us information we will follow up on it and take action.”
