AS THE old saying goes – with this swing, I thee wed.

At least that’s the case for Jason Woolf and Rebecca Freeman.

The pair, who shot to Colchester fame after opening Mingles swinging club, in London Road, Lexden in August 2014, have tied the knot at a low key ceremony at Colchester Town Hall.

And they have vowed not to change.

Mr Woolf, 44, said: “Becks wanted to get married before she was 40 and she’s 40 next week, so we thought ‘why not get on and do it?'

“Of course we will continue to swing.

“To a certain extent a marriage will probably bring more swinging opportunities.

“When a woman is feeling comfortable in a relationship she is more likely to be OK with more happening not less.

“When you’re married there is more of a commitment so it’s almost easier to share each other.”

Mr Woolf said theirs is not the only swingers’ wedding this year after one couple who are club members tied the knot earlier in the town.

Another member also proposed to his girlfriend at the club.

He added: “Cynics who wonder why folks in the swinging lifestyle even bother to get married or stay in a relationship clearly don’t understand what the swinging lifestyle can bring to a marriage or relationship.

“The lifestyle is not just about swapping partners and in reality a lot of couples do not swap, the biggest part of the lifestyle is the social side.

“The lifestyle is all about being open and honest with your partner, allowing each other to be themselves and explore each other’s fantasies while removing virtually all concerns of deceit or cheating within a relationship.

“Swinging seems to be an endless topic of conversation, it's almost a hobby you can both enjoy at whatever level you choose to participate.

“Who doesn’t want to see their partner all dressed up feeling confident and being admired?”

The businessman also revealed the couple began swinging “by accident” but enjoyed it so much they began trying different clubs and eventually settled upon opening Mingles in the unassuming, vacant Lexden building.

The club now has more than 2,500 members.

He added: “I wish all couples would try a swinging club just once and see what its all about. It's given so many people, who we now call friends, a whole new outlook on life.”
