MODELS at the Colchester Institute had a cinematic makeover for the college’s annual catwalk show.

Level one, two and three Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy students from the Colchester, Braintree and Clacton campuses showcased their handiwork as part of the annual ‘Create an Image’ competition.

Under the theme ‘At the movies’ students were inspired by characters from classic flicks such as 101 Dalmations, Avatar and Alice in Wonderland.

Renata East, Head of Salon Studies at Colchester Institute said employers from across the region who came to judge the event were impressed by the high standard of work.

She added: “We hope this will also raise awareness of our commercial salons and the discounted treatments we offer to the general public, which helps towards their final qualification.”Gazette:

Bernadette Franklin, a level three hairdressing student who won from her group, said: “I love all the Hollywood glitz and glamour, so my final look came very naturally to me.

“Being part of the show has helped me really pay attention to detail. It’s a fantastic achievement to put on my portfolio and will make me more employable.”

Winners went away with themed goody bags featuring electrical items, skincare and grooming products.
