ONE of the country’s leading musical satirists looks at myths, nonsense and the very nature of knowledge itself. He’s a regular on the Now Show and has recently co-presented with Harry Shearer BBC Radio 2's Anatomy of a Guitar, as well performing Mitch Benn Is The 37th Beatle and presenting Spank The Plank both for BBC Radio 4.

Mersea Island Art Show, Mersea Museum, High Street, West Mersea, today until Sunday, 10am to 5pm. Free. THE island’s open exhibition consists of work by artists from all over East Anglia in all kinds of mediums such as oils, watercolours and sculptures as well as a limited edition prints.

Located next to St Peter’s Church, the exhibition is a fund raiser for the Museum with artists paying a nominal entry fee and donating a percentage of their sales to the museum.

• Vincent Lindsey-Clark: Virtuoso Guitar, Headgate Theatre, Chapel Street North, Colchester, Sunday. Workshop 2pm to 4pm, concert 4.45pm to 6pm. Workshop and concert £20, concert only £12. 0773611306 A CONCERT and a chance to get some top tips from one of Britain's most prominent guitar soloists and composers Vincent studied at the Royal College of Music and was the winner of the Lanchester International Guitar Competition at the age of 16. He gave his London debut at the Wigmore Hall and has since performed there and at other major London venues, including the Purcell Room and the Barbican Hall.

• Secret Vintage Fair, Firstsite Art Gallery, Lewis Gardens, Colchester, tomorrow, 10.30am to 4.30pm. £3. MORE than 50 businesses and traders, selling anything and everything from vintage hats, clothes, accessories, records and furniture, will be taking part in the latest Vintage Fair.

And as well as a festive feel to this weekend’s fair there will be plenty of entertainment as well, which includes live music from Band of Fools, Forties singing trio Fox, Wiggle and Sass, and singer Tallulah Goodtimes.

• The Minories Makers Christmas Market, Minories Art Gallery, High Street, Colchester, tomorrow, 10am to 4pm. Free. ORGANISERS of this annual event are planning their biggest fair yet with dozens of stalls upstairs in the Ballroom, the Upstairs Room and the Old Studios.

The stalls will be full of wonderful and unusual gifts made by local artists and makers such as handmade decorations, prints and cards, jewellery and ceramics.

An added bonus this year will be storytelling sessions with Jan Williams from 2pm to 3pm.
