CLASSIC cars rolled into Colchester as part of a rally to raise cash for two charities.

Rolls Royces, Porsches and Jaguars were among more than 200 cars which paraded from Writtle College to Lower Castle Park.

Each entrant had to raise sponsorship which will be split 50/50 between charities Headway and Snap (Special Needs and Parents).

The event was organised by Charity Classic Vehicle Club.

Jo Hockey, from the fundraising team at Headway, which cares for survivors of brain injuries and their families, said: “It was an excellent day and everybody was in good spirits. They all enjoyed the rally.

“They parked inLower Castle Park where they were showing off their lovely cars.

They were cars of all ages from the Thirties to Nineties.

“It was a 55-mile route to Colchester Castle Park. It was quite amazing to see all the cars coming along the road all at the same time.”

The total raised is still being counted.
