SHELTERED accommodation residents got stuck into a spring clean.

Residents from Heathfields House, in Abbots Road, Colchester, were able to dispose of any unwanted items in a skip, for free.

Helping residents on the day were Colchester Borough Homes staff, which manages the site, and housing officers and neighbourhood wardens.

Work also took place to clear communal areas and improve general living conditions for its residents.

A Colchester Borough Homes spokesman said: “The Skip Day that took place at Heathfields House is one in a series Colchester Borough Homes is planning to help assist our residents within sheltered housing to improve their environment and provide a valuable resource to those who find it difficult to get out and dispose of unwanted items.

“It was a positive event attended by a number of people from the locality who helped out.

“Colchester Children’s Charity Appeal also attended and took away two van loads of items as well as the skip being filled.”
