FIREFIGHTERS tackled a house fire in Little Clacton which left the property completely smoke logged.

Two crews from Clacton and one from Weeley were called to the fire in St Osyth Road just after midday on Tuesday and used hoses, breathing apparatus and an aerial platform to extinguish the flames.

There was considerable damage to the roof of the house and to a number of items inside it.

The fire was eventually completely extinguished by 2.40pm after the crews used a thermal image camera to check for any remaining hotspots.

The police and fire brigade will carry out a joint investigation to determine the cause of the blaze, which is currently unknown.
